1980's and 90's Blazer Jackets for a Retro Polished Look

You can look good in retro if you know how to piece together certain items. The cool weather and holiday season is the perfect time to wear retro blazer jackets from the 80's and 90's, for they add a touch of sophistication and trendiness to casual clothing. You can wear a fancy jacket to dress up your look, or a plain blazer for a more formal appearance.

True Vintage Collections: A Bargain Hunter's Dream!

These days collectors are inundated with overpriced items when thrifting for true vintage; from clothing, jewelry, to other true vintage accessories. What better way to find bargains on true vintage than buying collections!

True vintage collections are when sellers sell items from either a person's collection, grouped items that are similar, or items from a particular era, fashion house, or jewelry maker; such as retro to vintage Mexican silver.

Not to be confused with sets, such as a matching earring and necklace set, true vintage collections or lots encompass a wide variety, and are a fabulous way to build your own collection. Often you can find amazing deals, simply because a seller is looking to liquidate their stock to make room for other items. Whatever the reason, keep on the look-out for these types of deals.

Should I accessorize with full collections?

It depends on the look you're going for. Sometimes it works; like the woman wearing evening wear jewelry, other times the look is mismatched; such as the woman wearing a large fancy ring with a generic looking watch.

Often you can maximize your look with a single accent piece from a collection for a particular style, without overdoing it.

Whatever your style, the choice is yours, because there are no rules in the world of true vintage collecting, only endless looks and possibilities!

How to Accessorize with Vintage and Retro Purses and still look 21st Century Glam

Some people are apprehensive about stepping out with a vintage or retro purse, for fear of looking as if they stepped into a time warp. The best way not to look over eccentric if that's not your "bag," is to wear today's styles, coupled with yesterday's accessories. For example, don't wear retro eighties pastel clothing, or a shoulder pad jacket from the eighties with an eighties evening purse, wear something 21st century stylish with that cool retro bag, for an updated classic look!

Vintage Caftans: Someone's Creative Sewing from the Mod Eras are a Collectible Trend Today

The 1960's and 70's were the era for over the top "modern" homemade clothes, with Caftans being a popular item ladies created for their wardrobe. Anyone could wear them, all shapes and sizes, and the more outlandish, the better. Some women used rhinestones and beads to create the "glamorous" look of the times.

Some Caftans had a regal or royal look, and were made of tapestry style, brocade materials, also embellished.

Some people still wear these pieces, some are used as displays in stores or as collector items. Either way, Caftans are a fun reminder of by gone eras, when sewing homemade clothes went to a whole other level!

Welcome To My New Fashion Blog

Hi Fellow Fashion Thrifters!

I started this blog to share my tips and hints of thrifting for quality clothes, for that ultimate look. I’ve always gone to thrift stores; it’s been a passion of mine since I was in my twenties, now it’s gone mainstream! Some people still get skeeved out about buying used clothes, but let’s face it, unless you’re rich with a personal truck delivery direct from designer to your home, everything you try on in store, someone else already did. We launder (at least I do) everything we buy, so what’s the difference? I have found some FABULOUS clothes at thrift stores, for pennies on the dollar. If I were to buy these clothes retail, I would have easily spent thousands! So shop cheap, and buy quality!
